Home &Away

Gentlemen,

The Perry Park Home & Away AWAY Match will be played on Tuesday, 9 Jun with the HOME match played 11 Jun on the Silver Course. There were 23 players that signed up for this match and only 16 slots available. I ran a random number generator to determine which 16 players would be selected to play and the remaining 7 players are Alternates. If any of the selected players can’t play, the next “ranking” Alternate will be notified to take that spot.

The following players have been selected to play in this match: Phillie Ah Yo, Larry Arkfeld, Terry Bennett, Mark Dalzell, Trent Darling, Scott Duncan, Stephen Kelly, Randy Mayfield, Ed O’Gallagher, Ken Pearson, Rick Rhoden, Fred Steffers, John Szostak, Robert Tracy, Tom Westfall, and Glen Wiggy.  If any of you can’t play in this match, please let me know immediately. Please drop off your $155 payment for this match soon. Please make your check out to EMGA and in the memo section, write “Perry Park H&A”. You can drop your check in the EMGA Check Box, located in the Men’s room at the Club House, or give it to either Mark Dalzell, or John Hayes.

The following members are alternates, rank ordered as follows: Michael Howington, Dan Uribe, Blair Linville, Russell Shaw, Joe Staten, Larry Overmyer, and Paul Thompson.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (719) 291-7126 or via email at [email protected].

EMGA Breakfast and Updated Constitution

Gentlemen:

This is the second call for sign-ups for the Memorial Breakfast and Spring Membership Meeting

Reminder, there is no cost to you to attend the breakfast meeting – it is part of your dues.  Nor is there a requirement to play in the tournament to attend the breakfast; or to attend the breakfast to play in the tournament.

To sign-up, go to the portal page at egc-2026emga.golfgenius.com.  .Under the Memorial Breakfast name on the left side of the page, click on “Sign Up”.  On the next page, click on the “I acknowledge that Golf Genius . . . ” box, then click on Sign-up at the bottom right.

During the meeting, we will be voting on our 2026 constitution.  The only change, other than correcting a few grammatical errors, is to allow prorated refunds is someone has to leave the EMGA mid-season.

During the meeting, we will be voting on our new Constitution.  Right now our Constitution states: “Dues will not be prorated for members leaving during the season.”  Last year we had a member who had to quit mid-season for events out of his control.  Your Executive Committee felt he deserved some of his money back.

The new language reads: “The EMGA Executive Council (EC) will determine on a case-by-case basis whether to return any prorated dues for a person leaving before the end of the season.  One of the primary determinates will be: was the event causing the member to leave the EMGA under their control or not: e.g., voluntarily moving out of town vs an unexpected medical condition preventing them from playing golf for the rest of the season.”

EMGA – Portal Page

; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px”>Members,

By now, I hope you have had a chance to log into the EMGA Portal Page (egc-2026emga.golfgenius.com). This portal is our central hub for all operational information and tournament management.

To help you get started, I have attached three high-level screenshots highlighting the key areas of the site:

  • The Landing Page: This is your primary dashboard. It provides a quick overview of upcoming rounds and displays any rounds or meals currently open for registration. You can use the top menu to navigate to more detailed sections.
  • The EMGA Calendar (under the “Information” menu): This is a comprehensive resource for the entire season. It identifies which rounds are open for signup (including closing dates), shows your registration status, and provides access to tee sheets and past results.
  • Open Tee Time Registration: This page is dedicated to signing up for OPCs. When registration is active, you can view and select available tee times here. If no OPCs are currently open, the page will list all upcoming opportunities so you can plan ahead.

Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with these tools. The portal contains a wealth of information designed to make your season run smoothly.

If you have any questions or need assistance navigating the site, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks.

EMGA – Schedule Update

Gentlemen,

Today’s cancelled OPC round was supposed to be on the Blue course.  And for those that read Theo’s email he sent out this morning, you saw where EGC maintenance will be punching the Blue greens on Tuesday, May 12th.  Thus, we have been moved from the Blue to the Silver Course for our OPC that day.  The impact is all four of our rounds in May will now be on the Silver Course plus our round last week was also on the Silver.

While none of us enjoy playing 5 EMGA events in a row on the same course, our primary driver is to maintain a season long balance of play between the two courses.  To accomplish this, we moved the Thursday, June 11 and the Thursday, August 20th OPCs from Silver to Blue.  The updated schedule is attached and here are some stats on how we are maintaining that balance.

  • After today’s cancellation, we now have a total of 37 rounds this season with 18 on the Silver and 19 on the Blue.
  • Since there are only 3 of them, the only type of play without a 50/50 split is our Open Play rounds (one back on March 19th and the two in November).  We have one on the Silver and two one the Blue.
  • There are 20 OPCs and 18 Ike Cup rounds evenly split 10/10 and 9/9 respectively on the Blue and Silver courses
  • Both the Blue and Silver Ringers also have 9 rounds each
  • There are 12 tournament rounds: 4 each Individual, TwoMan, and ABCD (four-man) with two rounds for each on the Blue and two rounds for each on the Silver.
  • For those playing in the Home and Aways though, 7 of those 9 rounds will be on the Blue course.

With respect to alternating courses, we will have 1 three-week streak of Blue courses; 3 two-week streaks of Blue courses, and 1 two-week streak of Silver courses.  We hope you will understand why this has to happen to maintain an equal balance in all our various competition types this season.

Thank you in advance for your understanding

EMGA Memorial Breakfast and General Membership Meeting

EMGA Members,

Sign-ups are now open for our first breakfast meeting of the year – the Memorial Breakfast and General Membership Meeting.  It is 3 weeks from today on Thursday, May 21st at 0730, followed by an 0845 shotgun start on the Silver course for our ABCD Scramble tournament.

Sign-ups will close at 1800 on Monday, May 18th as we owe a final count to the EGC catering staff first thing Tuesday morning, May 19th.

There is no cost to you to attend the breakfast meeting – it is part of your dues.  Nor is there a requirement to play in the tournament to attend the breakfast; or to attend the breakfast to play in the tournament.  However, we hope as many members as possible attend the breakfast meeting as we will be recognizing members, and/or family members, who have passed away during the last year; voting on our new constitution (details to follow); and opening the floor for questions about the 2026 season.

We opened sign-ups out of cycle from the normal Tuesdays at 1900 for OPCs and tournaments since you must sign up for the breakfast separate from the ABCD Scramble.  The process is the same though – go to the portal page at egc-2026emga.golfgenius.com.  .Under the Memorial Breakfast name on the left side of the page, click on “Sign Up”.  On the next page, click on the “I acknowledge that Golf Genius . . . ” box, then click on Sign-up at the bottom right.
