Dear Members,
You may have received a notice from GHIN indicating that your scores from Thursday’s OPC have been edited. This was our decision. Instead of submitting scores to GHIN as Home scores, we will now use the Competition score type for OPCs and tournaments where a score is posted to GHIN.
You may be wondering why this change was made. GHIN does not differentiate between Home (H), Away (A), or Competition (C) scores when calculating your differential and subsequently your handicap index. The reason we are marking them as Competition scores is to distinguish these scores from casual play.
You will soon receive information from the EGC staff regarding the establishment of a Handicap Committee, its responsibilities, and its implications for you. Marking our scores as Competition scores will assist the handicap committee in monitoring scoring trends, enforcing score-posting compliance, and identifying anomalies to ensure that all players compete on a fair and equitable basis in both casual and tournament play.
Since making the change in GHIN for the 28 May OPC was successful, meaning it didn't duplicate your score or any other anomaly, we are going to update the following EMGA rounds from Home to Competition: 26 Mar, 2, 9, 16, 21 Apr, and 12 May.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.
