New Member Information and Registration

EMGA New Member Sign-up Information Sheet (January 2024)

Thank you for your interest in joining the Eisenhower Men’s Golf Association (EMGA). The EMGA was formally organized in 1988 and it continues to provide both a competitive and social experience to over 200 golfers. We are a volunteer organization that has grown through the efforts of our members. We always welcome new members to come and join our group.

Membership in the EMGA is open to all golfers eligible to play at the Eisenhower Golf Club at the US Air Force Academy. Annual dues are $80 and are payable at the beginning of each calendar year.

To join the EMGA, please provide your full name, phone number, address, and GHIN (if available) and make your check payable to the “EMGA.” Either drop off the information and check in the “EMGA Checks” box in the Men’s Locker Room at the course or mail it to:

Benefits of EMGA Membership

  1. Camaraderie: You will play with fellow like-minded golfers who enjoy the game of golf, the fellowship of members who have served in the military or were/are involved with either the military or government. It also gives us a chance to swap
war stories – chat about which doctors we prefer or compare our latest medical procedures.
  2. Tournaments: Opportunities for friendly, low-threat tournament competition. We typically have 9-10 formal tournaments which are either individual or team based. Prizes are awarded per flight and are covered by your EMGA annual dues, so no additional entry fees are required for these. The only thing that you need to pay for is an optional golf cart or getting in the low-cost optional skins game. Please note that the Eisenhower Golf Club works with us to allow those of us who prefer to walk to avoid having to use a cart. In fact, they provide courtesy carts to shuttle out to our starting holes for shotgun starts.
  3. Open Play Competition (OPC): These are available to us on the weeks when we do not have a tournament scheduled. These competitions are “pay as you go” and cost $5.00. Payouts are made back to the golfers as Pro Shop credits. In addition, net skins also win prizes. This is another low-threat competition for our members.
  4. Open Play (OP): These are available along with the OPC when we do not have a scheduled tournament. This is where you can obtain prime Thursday morning tee time and play with your friends. All you need to do is to sign up for your tee time up to a week in advance.
  5. Match Play: This is head-to-head competition among EMGA members in a season-long Match Play tournament ($10 entry fee). Due to our summer activities like vacations and trips out of town, each round will last for three weeks for you to schedule and play your assigned match. Winning one match will return your entry fee. Unfortunately, this is a single-elimination tournament, and the losers are done.
  6. Home and Away Matches: We offer our members, at an additional charge, the opportunity to play in two-day events (Eisenhower GC and private course) with other outstanding private courses in the Pikes Peak region. The play format is Best Ball Matches with two-man teams from EMGA and another men’s club competing for prizes and bragging rights. The additional charge covers the expense of the green fees and cart at the private club and the prizes. In addition, the cost also covers a light breakfast along with lunches for both days.
  7. Ike Cup: The Ike Cup, named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, is an EMGA tournament format like the Ryder Cup. EMGA members will qualify throughout the season for team eligibility and compete in a two-day tournament. To qualify, members will need a minimum of four scored rounds from qualifying events (OPCs, the Individual Modified Stableford tournament, the Variable Best Ball, and the two Kregel Rounds). A member’s best four scores from the qualifying events will decide their ranking within their respective flights for both Gross and Net scores.
  8. Blue and Silver Ringers: Blue and Silver Ringer tournaments take the best net score you have on each hole of each course over the course of the season. Your net score for the 18 holes on each course is computed and then the money collected is paid out in Pro Shop credits to the top-five positions in each flight.
  9. Hole in One Award: The EMGA will provide you with an award for your ace during an EMGA sponsored event.
  10. Special Event Meals: Your dues also cover several meals during the year. This includes the breakfast before our spring Memorial Tournament, a meal during the Vic Kregel Championship, a meal associated with our Fall membership meeting,
and a lunch provided by the Eisenhower Golf Course during the EMGA Appreciation Day.So – as you can see, it is a good deal to be a member of the EMGA. The eligibility to join is “open to all golfers who are eligible for EGC membership and have a current GHIN number.” Note that they do not have to be an annual member of the EGC – so you can pay daily fees if you prefer.
