Tournament Lessons Learned

Gentlemen,

Here are some lessons learned from the four tournaments to date.

1.     Showtime for a tournament is NLT 15 minutes before Call to Carts and we require everyone to check in with the Tournament Committee in the Grille area by then.  This is extremely important since the next tournament which is the Two-Man 6-6-6.  As this format requires a complete team and does not allow singles, we will start moving members around right at 0730 to fill in what we think are no-show blank spots, but could be your slot if you failed to check in.

2.     We are getting pretty good success in members letting us know they cannot play.  Ideally it would be nice to know before we do the build at 0800 the day before a tournament, but we appreciate letting us know as soon as you know.  There are though a few people who were indeed no-shows without notifying us in advance.  This is happening not only for tournaments but OPCs and H&As as well.  Because this is an ongoing problem, we developed a policy where no-shows get one warning and then are prohibited from playing in the next EMGA event on their second in fraction.  Please do not let this happen to you.

3.     Finally, a few people across all the tournaments thought they had signed up, only to realized they had not after we send out the tee sheet.  The Tournament Committee goes to extra lengths to include a list of all registered players in our last call email sent out about 4 days before a tournament.  We do this specifically for this reason, so please, please, please, review these last call emails to ensure your name is on the list if you think you had signed up.  Plus just as importantly, to make sure you are not on the list if you think you are not playing.

Thank you,

Your Tournament Committee
