Use of Digital Scorecards

Members,

Unfortunately, we need to take a small step backwards in the use of digital scorecards.  I don’t want to get too much in the weeds or duplicative, but I need to pass along some changes.  We’re finding out that the digital scorecards (where you sign in with your player GGID), which allows the marker and the player to confirm the scores, are having some technical issues which is not allowing for some of the confirmations we’re looking for, thus defeating the purpose of digital scorecards.

While Golf Genius is working on fixes, we are going back to the use of the mobile scoring app.  The Mobile scoring app uses the foursome GGID and only requires one player to score the entire foursome.  The only drawback is it will not allow for the players to confirm/attest their scores.  The mobile scoring app will be the official scorecard, but we will also have each group use a paper scorecard as the confirmation to the mobile scoring app.  The paper scorecard must be signed, attested, and dropped off in the EMGA box located in the men’s locker room for OPCs or returned to a tournament committee member for tournaments.  If your mobile score and the paper scorecard agree, but you turned in a wrong score for a hole (either higher or lower), then the rules of golf will apply.  If the scores do not agree due to a mobile scoring malfunction, then we will go with what’s written on the paper scorecard.  You will have 24 hours after the results are published to make the committee aware of any scoring infractions.

Look for any tournament specific instructions on scoring when those emails are sent out.

Although a small step backwards, we hope that this all will work itself out for the better.  Thanks.
