The first of our Season-Long Competitions concluded today. Congratulations to Larry Walker as the 2024 EMGA Match Play Champion. Larry defeated Mando Macias 3&2 in a hard-fought battle.
The 2024 Match Play started with 87 players broken down into 16 flights for round-robin play. The 16 flight winners then entered into a Knockout Round of 16 (attached) to decide the ultimate champion. The cost was $10 to enter for a total purse of $870, all returned to the players in payouts.
The other Season-Long Competitions are the Ike Cup and Blue and Silver Ringers. The 24 finalists for the Ike Cup have been announced and will play a two-day team tournament next Monday and Tuesday, September 9th and 10th. The Blue Ringers conclude with the OPC on September 12th and the Silver Ringers with the OPC on September 19th.
Larry will receive his Match Play Champion trophy at the Fall meeting breakfast on 26 September where we will also recognize our other Season-Long champions and other award winners. Look for the invite for the breakfast in about a week.
