EISENHOWER MEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION

2024 Distinguished Service Award

To

John “Pony” Horsman

The Eisenhower Men’s Golf Association (EMGA) Executive Committee is honored to name John “Pony” Horsman as the recipient of our 2024 Distinguished Service Award.  Pony’s leadership was demonstrated in all the varied positions of responsibility he held as a member of the EMGA.  From 2017 through 2021, Pony headed up the Open Play/Open Play Competition Committee.  While Chair, Pony instituted new improvements to EMGA play, including adding in skins competition to the OPCs, thus boosting participation and enjoyment.  His next position was EMGA Vice President from 2021 through 2022.  In this capacity, Pony was essentially the XO of the organization taking care of the logistics for breakfasts and lunches as well as the varied other responsibilities the Vice President is in charge of.  Additionally in 2021, he did double duty as OPC Chair.  Pony’s last position was EMGA President.  Here, he was totally engaged and was bringing new ideas to EMGA when personal illness caused him to step aside.  Pony’s willingness to help the EMGA and individuals within the organization was one of his strengths and a major reason for his selection of this award.  Anyone lucky enough to get to play a round of golf with Pony experienced a true gentleman and an enjoyable player with his positive attitude.  Thank you Pony for your contribution beyond the call.
